Introduction

The 5-days Web Development Bootcamp held from 17th November 2025 to 21st November 2025 at the Digital Library Lab was designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to front-end and back-end web development. This bootcamp aimed to equip participants with the essential skills needed to build modern web applications, starting with the fundamentals of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Node.js.

Participants were introduced to web development in a structured way, gradually advancing from basic concepts to more complex topics, ensuring a solid foundation for both beginner and intermediate learners.

Objectives:

The key objectives of the bootcamp were to:

1. Introduce web development fundamentals: Ensure participants understand the core technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript).

2. Teach basic front-end and back-end skills: Equip attendees with knowledge of React for UI development and Node.js for server-side programming.

3. Build hands-on experience: Engage participants with practical exercises and mini-projects to reinforce learning.

4. Foster collaboration: Encourage participants to work together, share ideas, and learn from each other.

5. Prepare participants for real-world development tasks: Ensure participants are ready to start building real-world web applications.

Event Highlights

 Day 1: Web Development Basics

Ø  An overview of how the internet and websites work, including the roles of servers, clients, and browsers.

Ø  Introduction to HTML and CSS basics, including elements like headings, paragraphs, lists, links, and images.

Ø  Participants were introduced to the concept of front-end and back-end development, with practical exercises in HTML structure and text formatting.

 Day 2: JavaScript & React

Ø  Comprehensive coverage of JavaScript fundamentals such as variables, data types, functions, arrays, and objects.

Ø  Introduction to React, with participants learning about components, JSX, props, state, and event handling in React.

Ø  Hands-on exercises included building simple components and understanding state management.

 Day 3: Backend Development with Node.js and Express

Ø  Participants explored the backend fundamentals, including the basics of Node.js, Express.js, and building simple APIs.

Ø  Introduction to handling requests and responses, routing, and using Postman for API testing.

Ø  Practical experience with connecting to MongoDB and performing CRUD operations.

 Day 4: Authentication, Security, and JWT

Ø  Detailed discussion of authentication mechanisms, including password hashing and JSON Web Tokens (JWT).

Ø  Building secure login and signup systems with authentication routes and JWT verification.

Ø  Participants implemented a simple authentication system, understanding the flow from frontend to backend to database.

 Day 5: Mini Project & Wrap-up

Ø  A mini project focused on building a basic authentication system using the skills learned during the week.

Ø  Recap of the entire bootcamp and Q&A session to address any remaining doubts.

Ø  Time for participants to work on their final projects, with instructors providing personalized feedback.

Outcomes

By the end of the bootcamp, participants were able to:

1. Build Static and Dynamic Websites: Participants were proficient in creating simple websites using HTML and CSS.

2. Develop Interactive Web Applications: With a solid understanding of JavaScript and React, participants were able to build basic interactive applications.

3. Implement Backend Services: Participants understood the basics of server-side development, including using Node.js and Express to create APIs, connect to databases, and handle user authentication.

4. Understand Web Development Workflow: Participants gained familiarity with the full stack development flow, from front-end to back-end to database.

5. Work on Real-World Projects: The mini-project, including an authentication system, gave participants practical experience in full-stack development.

Conclusion

The 5-days bootcamp provided participants with a solid foundation in both front-end and back-end development. The combination of theoretical lectures and hands-on projects enabled attendees to gain valuable skills and a deeper understanding of web development. Participants left with the confidence to start building their own projects and the knowledge to pursue further learning in more advanced web technologies.

The bootcamp successfully met its objectives and gave participants the tools needed to begin their journey as web developers. The collaborative learning environment fostered engagement and peer-to-peer support, ensuring an enriching experience for all involved.
